Nikola Tesla was born in Smiljan on the night of July 9-10, exactly at midnight, while lightnings were shining over Smiljan.
In hometown he lived with his father Milutin, mother Georgina (Đuka), his three sisters: Milka, Angelina and Marica, and brother Dan.When he was old enough, he started his first education in his native Smiljan, where he went to the Krajiška Trivialka, a school where German language, arithmetic and religious studies were taught.
